About Us

Our background

Trust House (formerly Trust House Reading) is a rape and sexual abuse support centre. We were set up in 2013 by The Survivors Trust with funding received from Ministry of Justice under the Coalition government’s commitment to open 15 new rape support centres. A national needs assessment exercise enabled The Survivors Trust to identify Berkshire as an area lacking in specialist support with a very high reported sexual violence crime rate.

Our services cover the whole Thames Valley area and we are the only dedicated rape and sexual abuse support centre in Berkshire. All of our services are free, confidential, non-judgmental and inclusive and are accessible to everyone.

Who we are

We have a small team of core staff complemented by our counsellors and volunteers. Together we provide dedicated support to children and adults of all ages and all genders affected by rape and sexual abuse either recently or in the past and for people who support them including family and friends.

Our mission

We believe that every individual has the right to be free from all forms of sexual violence and abuse. Trust House’s confidential services place survivors at the heart of what we do, and seek to empower individuals to work through and beyond their experience of abuse.

We are a registered charity (charity number 1174926), and our aims align with The Survivors Trust – to empower survivors of rape, sexual violence or childhood sexual abuse through supporting and improving effective responses to survivors.

We are also an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and operate according to their code of ethics.
